The Importance of Measuring the Right Thing.
It is often said that you can only manage what you can measure. An unfortunate corollary is that managers tend to only manage whatever happens to be measured. In this talk I discuss several possible metrics for measuring the effectiveness of a recommendation system for web retailers and the unfortunate consequences of choosing the wrong one
