Poll results: Many Data miners prefer to analyze social networks than participate

With respect to Social Networks, do you prefer to analyze or participate?

The poll results (below) seem to confirm that many data miners are more interesting in analysis of social networks than in participating The results were:

• 42% said: just analyze, but not participate
• 37% - both analyze and participate
• 9% - just participate, but not analyz
• 10% - neither analyze nor participate

This poll what I saw at KDD-2010 conference , where social networks analysis was a hot topic, yet kdd10.crowdvine.com social network for the conference was barely active, even though you could sign in with facebook or twitter accounts.
