The 4th Annual Data Sciences Summer Institute (DSSI)
will be held May 22-July 2, 2011 on the
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) campus. This 6-week long program is for college juniors and
seniors as well as first-year graduate students with a major or minor in Computer Science.
At the DSSI, students will attend an intensive class in the mathematical foundations of Data
Sciences, tutorials on advanced Data Science topics from University of Illinois professors,
talks by a dozen expert speakers from around the country, and work on collaborative research
projects in the areas of:
- Databases and Information Integration
- Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Information Extraction
- Computer Vision
- Information Retrieval and Web Information Access
- Knowledge Discovery in Social and Information Networks
