The Distinguished Contribution Award goes to Prof. Huan Liu of ASU. The Most Influential Paper went to a paper on enhancing effectiveness of outlier detections. The awards will be presented at PAKDD 2012, Kuala Lumpur, 29 May - 1 June.

Discovery and Data Mining (PAKDD) is delighted to announce the
following two awards that will be presented at this year's conference,
The 16th Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (PAKDD 2012) which will be
held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 29 May - 1 June, 2012.
PAKDD Distinguished Contribution Award 2012:
Professor Huan Liu of the
Arizona State University, USA.
This award recognises significant and
ongoing contributions in research and services to the advancement of
the PAKDD community and series of conferences. Professor Huan Liu has
been involved in PAKDD from its beginnings in Singapore 16 years
ago. He has been an active participant and, importantly, has helped
guide PAKDD to ensure its ongoing quality and relevance to the
international data mining community. The award also recognises his
major research contributions over many years to knowledge discovery
and data mining. Congratulations to Professor Liu.
PAKDD Most Influential Paper Award 2012 (from PAKDD 2002):

The selection committee
considered several criteria in coming to its decision. A review of
citations was undertaken to identify a pool of candidates, followed by
a challenger/champion approach to identify the winning paper. The
winning paper is assessed by the committee for impact, influence,
novelty, and significance. Congratulations to all the authors.
