Big Data Journal had a very successful launch of the journal at the Strata + Hadoop World conference with an impressive preview issue and plans are on track for an inaugural issue in early 2013.


Big Data Journal Big Data Journal had a very successful launch at the Strata + Hadoop World NYC 2012 conference with an impressive preview issue, containing:
  • Making Sense of Big Data
  • Big Data and Thought Crime: An Interview with Jim Adler
  • Big Data for Development
  • MapReduce is Good Enough? If All You Have is a Hammer, Throw Away Everything That's Not a Nail!
  • Unraveling the Complexities of Life Sciences Data
The plans call for publishing the inaugural issue in time for the next Strata conference in Santa Clara, February 26-28, 2013.

Two quarterly columns for the journal will be written by Jim Hendler at RPI, and Chris Wiggins at Columbia and will offer a unique perspective on topics in big data and data science.

Edd Dumbill, the Editor of Big Data Journal, also expects contributions from other leaders in industry and research, and if you want to contribute, here is the most recent CFP.
