RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for developing a novel imaging database for microscopic images for drug delivery. They will also develop and maintain sophisticated data management schemes for imaging in support of data intensive biological research efforts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science or closely related discipline
  • 2 years experience in programming languages in Java, J2EE, R
  • Strong experience in developing databases using Oracle, MySQL, or similar
  • Established track record of bioinformatics or computational biology research as shown by at least 2 peer-reviewed publications in these fields
PREFERENCES:
  • Strong verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team-based environment
  • Web and database development skills
  • Established track record of applying statistical and/or data mining techniques to research problems
TERMS:
1 year position with option for renewal

LOCALE:
Molecular Graphics and Modeling Lab at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS<

COMPENSATION:
$32,000 - $35,000 + full benefits package
