The University of Tennessee College of Business Administration invites applications and nominations for a tenure track, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position in the Department of Statistics, Operations, and Management Science. A primary research interest in developing analytic tools relevant to business is expected. Success publishing research in top journals is desired, along with an interest in collaboration with other College of Business colleagues and experience with finding solutions to business problems. The position is being advertised at all levels: assistant, associate, full professor. Review of applications will begin in January 2011 and will continue until the position is filled. Effective date of employment will be August 1, 2011. Compensation will be competitive.

Qualifications
Required: A Ph.D. degree in a business discipline, Computer Science, Statistics, or Operations Research as of the starting date of employment.

Preferred: The ideal candidate will have: Experience in applying analytics to real business problems (work experience in a business analytics group is highly desirable); Commitment to a scholarly research record - as evidenced by publications in top tier journals; Quality teaching at all levels; Knowledge of widely used technologies in business analytics; Appreciation of the role of analytics in various business functions; Ability to work well with college and departmental colleagues on interdisciplinary problems.

Program Information
The Department of Statistics, Operations, and Management Science is one of six departments within the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. The Department currently offers a masters degree in Business Analytics and Ph.D. degrees in both Business Administration and Management Science. Beginning fall 2011 (pending final approval), the Department will offer an undergraduate degree is Business Analytics and a dual M.B.A./M.S. in Business Analytics in conjunction with the College's MBA program. Department faculty members are actively involved in the full time MBA and the various executive MBA programs offered by the College. We have been very successful in placing our students in organizations such as Capital One, Target and dunnhumbyUSA. The department has created a Business Analytics forum in which noncompeting companies meet to share best practices. In spring 2012 the department will host a national Business Analytics conference of business practitioners and academics. The faculty is active in publishing and numerous members serve on editorial boards. Faculty excellence has been recognized by numerous awards, including the Edelman Prize, Emerald Management Reviews Citation of Excellence, ASQ's Nelson Award, etc. . We rank 14th in yield and 15th in visibility in the most recent Rothkopf rankings of contributions to INFORMS practice literature.

The application package should include a curriculum vita, evidence of successful prior teaching (course materials, teaching evaluations, etc.), a recent publication or working paper, a statement of their successes dealing with practical business projects, and contact information consisting of three (3) references. Duties/Responsibilities
Research requirements include a strong and continuing record of publications in top tier journals. Collaboration on research projects with other faculty and with students is expected. Also, the candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission at the undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. levels. Finally, ideal candidates would be expected to provide program leadership, advise students, and facilitate industry connections.
