Research Fellowship in Opinion Mining

INESC-ID invites expressions of interest from potential PhD candidates in Computer Science, Informatics Engineering or Computational Linguistics, with strong background in Machine Learning, for a research fellowship in Opinion Mining.

The grant is for a period of 6 months (eventually renewable for up to 12 months) and the selected candidate will be working in the REACTION - Retrieval, Extraction, and Aggregation Computing Technology for Integrating and Organizing News - project ( dmir.inesc-id.pt/reaction/Reaction ), at INESC-ID.

REACTION is a Strategic Research and development project in Interactive and Advanced Digital Media, funded by the CoLab, UT Austin | Portugal International Collaboraboratory for Emerging Technologies (www.utaustinportugal.org/).

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Summary:
The research activities involve the development of machine learning techniques for classifying text form different genres, including news, blogs and micro-blogs, mining opinions from social media (e.g. news comments and tweets) about news topics and personalities, and detecting information flow. 2. Salary:
The grant amount is 980 Euros per month (tax free), according to the BI scholarship stipends defined by FCT (alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en).
