Researcher in Data Mining and Text Mining

University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia) would like to recruit an experienced researcher with ability to develop algorithms and software for text mining systems and to carry out experiments in text mining applications using large data sets. She/he will work in development of information extraction, text classification and text mining algorithms for renewable energy and environmental research areas, performing data extraction, manipulation, cleaning, text mining and link analysis. She/he will be able to analyze and interpret today's plethora of data sources and thus support renewable energy and environmental scientists in the process of knowledge discovery.

The position is open within the FP7-REGPOT project SUNGREEN with duration until 30.9.2014. Conversion to a tenure track position is possible.

Qualifications:

• A PhD in Computer Science with at least three years of postdoctoral experience,
• Excellent knowledge of natural language processing and text mining
• Postdoctoral experience from the fields related to the job description,
• Demonstrated ability to promote and perform independent work in a group-oriented research environment,
• A distinguished publication record,
• Very good oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
• Experience with text mining in applications related to energy and environmental research is an advantage.
