The German Institute for Educational Research and Educational Information (DIPF) und the Computer Science Department of the Technische Universitat (TU) Darmstadt are jointly seeking to immediately fill the position with the initially limited duration of 5 years as
Associate Professor (W2) Knowledge Mining and Assessment
50% of this position is attributed to the TU Darmstadt, and 50% of this position is attributed to DIPF.
This professorship should strengthen and integrate the existing competencies of the DIPF in the interdisciplinary area of the technology based assessment and of the TU Darmstadt in the area of the knowledge discovery in the Web. The prospective candidate should possess an excellent track record in the Computer Science and should be internationally known for his or her work in one or more research areas of the Knowledge Mining and Assessment. He or she should be demonstrate the ability to conduct research in innovative methods of Computer Science and should be willing to apply and advance these methods in an interdisciplinary setting. Possible desired research topics are:
- Technology-based analysis of complex processes or assessments,
- Semantic content processing, text mining,
- Adaptive content-, user- or process modeling.
Research in innovative Computer Science methods, for example graph mining, as part of the end-to-end technology-based systems for assessment and the knowledge discovery in the Web is expected. Highly scalable methods that adapt to a large number of domains and a large amount of data are in the foreground. The candidate is expected to actively contribute to the currently established research initiative Web Research of the TU Darmstadt and the DIPF. It is desired to establish connections to further areas of Computer Science and scientific/educational information. The courses to be taught (4h per week) are part of the basic programs and are part of the Data & Knowledge Engineering teaching specialization area with a focus on language processing at the TU Darmstadt.
