Analytics Manager - Asset Valuation
The Analytics Manager will design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art, data-driven predictive models using the latest and most advanced technologies in machine learning, statistical modeling and operation research. The Analytics Manager will deliver value through new product development, consulting engagements and research initiatives.
The Asset Valuation group within the Credit & Risk Services group provides solutions to the financial services market. As a member of the Asset Valuation team, the Analytics Manager will be responsible for developing a variety of financial models that benefit pension funds, insurance companies, hedge funds, and banks as they manage their asset-backed securities. Prior financial engineering experience in Fixed Income products and/or Mortgage-Backed Securities is required.
Main responsibilities include: training and development of junior analytics staff, developing analytic solutions, analysis of industrial-size data sets to determine suitability for model building; data clean-up and filtering; pattern identification and feature extraction; variable selection; experimentation with algorithms; performance analysis and preparation for communication with internal and external clients.
Work will require effective coordination of off-shore analytic resources, software development, clients, and business consultants. Some travel required to client locations.
This position may be based in San Diego, California or Jersey City, NJ.
Qualifications
Required:
- Advanced degree (MS/ Ph.D.) in a quantitative field (i.e., Statistics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Physics, Econometrics, etc.)
- Software skills: experience in Perl, C, Python, C++, Java, Excel programming skills
- Deep knowledge of analytic methodologies (regression, signal processing, optimization, neural networks, etc.)
- Track record of analytical product development, innovation, or research (patents or publications)
- 4 years of experience in financial services (investment bank or hedge fund) with a background in Equities, Commodities, Fixed Income products, Mortgage-Backed Securities, and/or Structured Finance
- Advanced hands-on modeling experience (including loan prepayment models, default models, cash flow modeling, short and long-term economic forecasting, Monte Carlo simulation, yield curves, term structure models, forwards, volatility modeling and pricing)
Preferred:
- Experience managing offshore analytics teams
- Strong UNIX background
- Experience with statistics packages - SAS, Matlab
