Orbitz is currently looking for a Manager / Senior Analyst, Partner Analytics

The Orbitz Partner Analytics group is responsible for building out the reporting and analytic framework to fully leverage the relationship between OWW and its partners (hotels, airlines, car rental companies, cruise lines, advertisers and destination service providers). The group will identify information that encourages suppliers to provide Orbitz with the best rates, inventory availability and promotions through analyses such as performance and peer set market share reporting. The team will demonstrate to suppliers how their pricing and promotional actions drive incremental value and business growth to the supplier. In addition, the team will arm the Sales organization with the data and analytics they need to identify opportunities and resolve issues with suppliers.

The Partner Analytics Manager / Senior Analyst will play a key role in designing and rolling out descriptive analytics (reporting and trending information), exploratory analytics (searching for patterns in data), and predictive analytics (more advanced analytical, statistical, or algorithmic approaches) that facilitate decision making and lead to improved business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan data analysis efforts for formal analytical projects (including planning of data acquisition, data analysis requirements, timing, etc.) and for ad hoc analytical requests.
  • Gather data analysis requirements through discussions with business leaders who are using analytics to make key business decisions.
  • Propose specific descriptive, exploratory, or predictive analytics that provide actionable insights to decision makers.
  • Weigh the pros and cons of different analytical/statistical methods and appropriate toolsets (e.g., SAS, Excel, Cognos), depending on the situation.
  • When using regression analysis: Identify potential model specifications for resolving a particular business problem, and identify strategies for testing the appropriateness of different model specifications.
  • Perform analysis and/or clearly articulate analysis requirements, so that others can execute the analysis.
  • Interpret and present analysis results so that they are understandable and lead to appropriate actions.
  • Provide guidance and support to others who may have less experience with advanced analytical / statistical methods and tools
Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong data analysis, manipulation, and programming skills; experience with SAS and SQL strongly preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in applied math, statistics, operations research, decision sciences, business / economics or computer science; master's degree with a quantitative focus preferred
  • 4-6 years of experience in an analytical role, especially in a consulting or market research environment
  • 2-3 years of practical experience with statistical analysis, regression, or data mining
  • Proven ability to create and execute project plans and manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated comfort in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Good communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Ambitious, self-starter with desire to drive projects to completion
  • Travel industry or eCommerce knowledge / experience is a plus
  • Experience with Cognos, Access, VBA, or other programming experience is a plus
