Join the industry leader in Internet Marketing/Advertising! Help us innovate in building analytics driven platforms. eBay is looking for a highly motivated and talented Data Mining and Machine Learning Engineer to join eBay's Advertising & Traffic Solutions team. Primary Responsibilities

• This is a hands-on key enabling position with end-to-end responsibility for scalable data mining solutions to power analytics driven optimization applications.
• You will be part of a newly created Machine Learning solutions team focused on Internet marketing - SEO, Paid Search/SEM, Affiliates, and Advertising at eBay.
• Expertise and hands on experience in using machine learning /data mining techniques - decision trees, SVMs, neural networks, ensemble methods etc. - on large data sets
• Work with a cross functional team (engineering, analytics, business) and provide data mining thought leadership to the team.
• Design advanced data mining solutions for mining Petabytes of data!
• Design and develop creative visualization and analytics tools for speeding data driven machine learning applications development.
• Partner closely with the Engineering team to develop the data transformations needed for producing machine learning data sets.
• Learn / understand the business problems and enable targeted solutions design using bottom up data driven design approach. . Design tools & processes to help the analysts, engineers to be more productive

• Solid understanding of data mining, machine learning, analytics and visualization tools and libraries. Candidates with experience using those techniques on large datasets are preferred.
• Hands-on programming experience with languages such as C/C++, Java or Python, working with large databases / files and in memory data structures.
• Experienced software / research / data engineer with expert level database, distributed systems (SQL, data modeling, Hadoop, MapReduce) and programming skills.
• Large dataset experience preferably working with complex enterprise / web logs datasets - preferred.
• Need to be a team player with good cross functional / collaboration skills
• Excellent problem solving skills; be able to shape the product/system requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to independently design / develop and test large and complex applications in a business environment is desired . Practical knowledge of Internet Marketing and Advertising optimization systems is a big plus
