RichRelevance is hiring a Data Analyst to join our growing Analytics Team. This team sits at the intersection of client services, algorithm creation, and product development. The successful candidate will have the ability to use data to interpret the behaviors of complex systems, the experience to suggest improvements and product enhancements, and the skills necessary to clearly communicate findings internally and externally to our merchant partners.
Data Analysts are key members of client service teams providing analytic expertise and the ability to understand and explain product behaviors. Likewise, analysts feed critical information about product behavior and client requirements back to product and algorithm development teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing a deep understanding of client needs and product performance in operational environments
- Working with account relationship managers and clients to identify specific analytics requirements and KPIs
- Regular reporting of monthly performance and quarterly business reviews
- Automation of appropriate analysis and reporting
- Ad hoc analysis of performance data that leads to actionable recommendations to optimize system performance and improve underlying algorithms
- Using the most appropriate tools, including but not limited to SQL, Excel, R, hadoop, hive, and pig to solve problems in a timely manner
- Clearly, concisely, and cogently presenting conclusions, both internally and externally, in both written and oral form
- Designing, managing, and analyzing results from A/B and multivariate tests. Presenting all phases of the experiment, from design through final conclusions to all interested parties
- Being a relentless advocates of best practices in analytics not only inside RichRelevance but also with our merchant partners and the broader community
- Working with the science and engineering teams to ensure that key insights derived from data analysis are incorporated into our recommendation strategies and algorithms
Key attributes of a successful candidate include:
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, other experimental science, or quantitative social science
- 2-5 years experience in web analytics, e-commerce, or online advertising - understanding the objectives of online retailers and using analytics and optimization to drive them is critical
- Experience gathering and analyzing large data sets with tools like SQL, R, Excel, scripting languages, and command line tools
- Basic Java programming skills are a plus
- A functional background in statistics including experiment design, regression, clustering, analysis of variance, basic time series and related techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, whether one-on-one or in front of large audiences
This position will be based in either Seattle or San Francisco.
