Description:
The research team is responsible for investigating, designing, prototyping, and reviewing analytic solutions in support of OpenX's Ad Server, Market, and other offerings. This charter covers a wide range of challenging technical problems including revenue optimization, forecasting and scheduling, behavioral classification, and fraud detection. We strive for state-of-the-art solutions, which may be assimilated from any field including: structured and unstructured data mining; game theory; numerical optimization; signal processing; statistics; and economics.
The research scientist will be responsible for one or more analytical assignments within a supportive environment. The position will require close collaboration with product management, data management, and software development teams to build end-to-end solutions for deployment. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong problem solving skills, a solid data mining background and a willingness to learn new technologies, who can apply these skills and knowledge creatively to devise practical solutions to the problems at hand. Strong written and oral communication skills are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics)
- Solid UNIX/Linux background
- Experience with one or more statistical software packages (R, SAS, SPSS, etc.)
- Hands-on experience working with large datasets and/or high speed data streams, containing millions or more high-dimensional records
- Demonstrated success in solving real-world analytical problems: predictive model development, numerical optimization, pattern recognition, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry knowledge, specifically within the online display advertising space
- Experience with SQL, Hive
- Proficient in Perl, Python, C/C++, or Java
- Track record of innovation or research
