Principal Duties
The Data Scientist will be responsible for designing and implementing processes and layouts for complex, large-scale data sets used for modeling, data mining, and production purposes. This position will work closely with other Scientists doing data discovery and layout, and with the Data Management team that implements and maintains ongoing data update processes. The Data Scientist will be responsible for handling client confidential data on a daily basis, therefore must maintain the highest level of adherence to ID Analytics, Inc. security policies and practices.
The duties of the Data Scientist will include, but not be limited to:
- Designing and building new processes for large and complex data sets
- Thinking strategically about uses of data and how that interacts with data design
- Designing and implementing statistical data quality procedures around new data sources
- Performing data studies and data discovery around new data sources or new uses for existing data sources
- Working closely with Database Engineers to design, build, and modify data processes
- Working closely with other Scientists doing data discovery and design
- Working closely with Engineering to implement any software required for accessing and handling data appropriately
- Working with the Data Management team to implement and handoff data checking and updating procedures
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or related technical field. Bachelor's required, Master's preferred.
- 1-2 years scripting and programming experience required, Java, Python desirable
- Some coursework or practical experience with data mining or machine learning required
- Coursework or practical experience building algorithms required
- Coursework or practical experience in basic statistics highly recommended
- Strong problem solving and logical skills
- Ability to think creatively and to work well both as part of a team and as an individual contributor
- Database experience desired, MySQL experience a plus
