Job Description
The Decision Scientist is responsible for developing complex predictive models using cutting edge techniques in statistics, econometrics and/or computer science to forecast product preference, response behavior, and usage pattern of existing and prospective customers as well as creating metrics to track and measure effectiveness of predictive models. This position will utilize complex data analysis methodologies to solve practical marketing problems - hence, maximize marketing success.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1. Statistical Modeling and Forecasting

  • Apply advanced statistical/econometric modeling tools to develop robust predicative models and support marketing campaigns in acquisition, retention, cross sell and customer experience management for various lines-of-business.
  • Work with data warehouse and other internal data platforms to extract customer information and profile customer behavior to support various strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Work with outside data vendors to evaluate external lists and data attributes, and develop strategies to use them to improve business results.
  • Design sound tests using the method of experimental design to maximize learning using limited resources.
  • Work with the campaign execution team to develop efficient and optimal implementation process to ensure that Decision Science tools are fully leveraged in all campaigns.
  • Develop accurate tracking methodologies for different marketing channels such as direct mail, email, telemarketing, online, media and prints for channel optimization.
2. Strategic Development
  • Work with product managers and other business partners to understand business challenges and play an integral role in marketing strategy development.
  • Generate innovative marketing solutions that can add value to existing business practice and work with business partners to implement the solutions.
  • Work with the data warehouse management team to understand the short-term and long-term data requirements and play an integral role in data warehouse development.
3. Analysis and Reporting
  • Track and analyze marketing program results and continuously improve marketing efficiency
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as business requires
Minimum prior experience (Type of experience):
  • 3+ years of marketing analytics experience , and
  • At least 1 year in the financial service industry.
Minimum skills/knowledge (skills and abilities necessary for position):
  • Strong knowledge of advanced statistical principles such as linear regression, logistic regression, univariate and multivariate analysis, principle component analysis, discriminate analysis, and experimental design.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the most advanced data mining tools such as decision trees, neural network, genetic algorithm, and linear and non-linear mathematical optimization.
  • Proven ability to develop sophisticated forecasting models.
  • Superior analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems and execute on solutions.
  • Great business sense with the ability of understanding multi-dimensional business problems and developing innovative and practical solutions to deliver superior business results.
  • Proficient in SAS/Base, SAS/STAT, SQL, DB2, UNIX and Microsoft office.
  • Extensive experience with large data sets and data manipulation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to multi-task, handle multiple projects with demonstrated follow-through
  • Able to handle ambiguous work environment and operate with little supervision
  • Strong computer skills
  • Project management skills
Minimum Education:
  • Graduate degree in quantitative fields such as statistics, economics, mathematics, computer science, operations research or MBA from a top business school
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous marketing, banking or financial industry work experience
