Position Description
The position of marketing analysis director will bring expertise in statistical modeling and data mining to Chartis marketing efforts. The position will be responsible for developing and implementing methods to address the most complex or emerging analytic challenges in marketing with the goal of driving improved business performance through customer insight. The scope of the analysis activity may encompass acquisition of new customers through several channels, optimization of media spend, sequencing of offers to existing customers and product development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development, implementation, and validation of quantitative models (regression, decision trees, optimization and other advanced data mining techniques) in support of marketing programs.
  • Expand the application of analytic technique to new areas including multi-channel attribution, e-commerce and product development.
  • Collaborate with actuarial staff to develop and implement lifetime value metrics and projections.
  • Develop and apply a framework for conducting statistically valid tests along with appropriate implementation, tracking, and analysis of results.
  • Provide support to marketing analysts at regional and local levels in areas of statistical or data mining technique.
  • Provide thorough requirements definition and prioritization of any customer information infrastructure work that needs to be undertaken to integrate data across all relationships and interactions, including online.
  • Share key learnings and best practices from the above analyses with marketing managers and senior management.
  • Define processes to codify and automate analytic processes.
Education
  • Advanced degree (MA, MS or Ph.D.) in statistics, operations research, econometrics, engineering or similar field required.
Skills
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis including techniques for predictive modeling, classification, segmentation, experimental design etc. Experience with analysis for online channels a plus.
  • Ability to extract and manipulate large data sets ( > 1 million records) for analysis purposes. Competency in SAS or SPSS required. Familiarity with relational databases, SQL programming preferred.
  • Ability to partner with and influence a variety of staff across functions and levels: marketing management, underwriting, actuarial, operations, systems, and senior management.
Experience
  • 5-10 years experience in financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct data mining analyses.
  • Familiarity with direct marketing processes and common commercial data sources.
  • Experience with online marketing channels.
Qualities
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Able to swiftly build relationships with staff.
  • Flexible, adaptable, self-starter.
