Our intelligence systems have mountains of data that will help Windows Live to better understand user behavior and patterns. We are looking for our next Data Quality Program Manager (DQ PM) who will support this work.
Only 15% of business intelligence (BI) systems will have formal DQ personnel in 2012 according to industry reports. In current research, a top risk to any BI system is DQ issues within the system. This DQ PM role is the up and coming role in the data industry and this role is key to the success of any intelligence systems. You will be responsible for the quality and accuracy of the significant volume of data flowing through the Windows Live Intelligence environment. This is data leveraged to make critical business decisions and to help us to understand our users and how they use our product. Data quality is the most important role in any system where data is the key asset. You will have the opportunity to make the difference each and every day!
You will verify data is collected with appropriate methodology ensuring that processing and aggregation of data is accurately and appropriately performed. You will identify missing opportunities in data collection and anticipate future and upstream needs of data collection. You are on point to ensure the end-to-end data environment is working optimally. You are responsible for the system configs ensuring data flows through the system correctly.
You will be responsible for partnering closely with feature PMs, UX research, product management, development and test as you communicate your deep data understanding, identify problems and opportunities with data collection. You will participate in spec reviews in order to help reduce unforeseen design issues and upstream data challenges.
You will collaborate with Windows Live Data Analysis Program Managers and Applied Researchers leveraging established best practices as well as generating ones that best support the Windows Live Intelligence data and business. You will be looking at what existing or new data can be shared with other data analysts and applied researchers to help position Windows Live Services to be world class in market.
- Outstanding math skills
- Database architecture, design, implementation, and operations experience
- Broad experience with statistical methods and experimental design desired
- Experience interpreting and working with large sets of data
- Experience with Business Intelligence applications
- Attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to identify patterns and inconsistencies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Good scripting and tool development skills, fluency with Excel and SQL is required and C++/ C# is desired
- Good knowledge of XML
- Aptitude of working on multiple projects in parallel or simultaneously
- BS Degree in Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent is required for this position
