The Relevance team has been given free license to do what it takes to make Bing the most relevant engine on the planet. Our charter is to give users what they want, when they want it, as fast as possible. As a tester and champion for search engine users, the challenge doesn't get any better than that. We're laser-focused on improving end-user relevance by developing new measurements that better capture the user experience, shipping high quality code at a rapid pace, and experimenting with cutting edge techniques to get the job done.
As part of our team, you'd be asked to take on some big challenges. Specifically, you'll be asked to quantify and define relevance for search engine result pages that focus on contextual signals from user search terms. You'll need to define scenarios for search terms that have context, like the location from where the search term was issued, the history of the searcher, and the category or type of query that was submitted. This role will require working across the product and allows for the development of broad metrics to quantify quality, as well as deep debugging skills into individual user queries.
The Bing Relevance Test Team is looking for solid engineers that are highly technical and not afraid of a challenge. Key qualifications include:
- 6+ years designing and developing software with a proven track record as a technical leader on complex projects
- Strong design, coding and debugging skills in C++/C#
- Proven ability to lead and drive long term projects
- Proven ability to influence and drive quality across the team and disciplines
- Proven ability to perform system-wide root cause analyses
- Demonstrated experience shipping software products
- Exceptional test aptitude, customer focus and expertise in formal and informal testing techniques as well as quality measurement
- A BS degree in computer science or a commensurate experience is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience shipping products at Microsoft (Services a big plus but not required)
- Machine learning, information retrieval techniques, data mining & statistical analysis experience are a plus
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field
