Predictive Modeling Analyst

The Statistics and Epidemiology Unit at RTI International, the nation's second largest independent, nonprofit scientific research organization is seeking a seasoned mathematical modeler to work with other researchers on its Research Triangle Park campus to work on health related projects predominantly in the areas of substance abuse, violence, chronic diseases and HIV.

Our goal is to provide sound, statistically defensible research through innovation, teamwork and technical expertise.

Job Description:

• Develop predictive models based on survey, clinical trials and observational data. Develop uncertainty estimates for forecasts made by a variety of statistical and simulation models.
• Participate in writing proposals and manuscripts. Team player in a growing research team.
• Development of solutions to problems where established theories and techniques have not been identified or where procedures are not established or are available.
• Contribute information and lead in preparing presentations and writing reports for scientific journals and other publications.
• Participation in appropriate professional development and scientific stature efforts.

• Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, operations research or related field with at least 6 years relevant experience or Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, operations research or related field with at least 1 year of related experience.
• Experience in data mining, knowledge discovery, experimental design, inferential statistics, analytics, and simulations.
• Expertise with at least one of the following statistical software: R, SAS, STATA.
• Familiarity with non-statistical modeling (agent-based, system dynamics) and sensitivity analysis.
• Strong writing skills as evidenced in writing sample and cover letter.
