Role Summary
This Consultant is responsible for managing and developing credit risk strategies and policies in respect of credit policy. This role will necessitate identification, design and implementation of complex statistical and business analyses projects to develop credit policies in support of business strategy. A strong understanding of the relationships between key business drivers and overall impact on risk/reward trade-offs will be a requisite.
The role requires a strong analytically minded individual capable of working on own initiatives. Good communication skills are required as there will be a high degree of liaison with other business partners notably Acquisition Marketing/Finance and a need to present research and recommendations in an effective manner.
Key deliverables (performance measures)
- Act as a Risk Management liaison with Marketing and Finance functions in inter-department projects.
- Present findings and recommendations with supporting data to business partners and senior management.
- Initiate, develop and implement credit risk criteria across a range of segments and products using statistical methodologies and data mining techniques to maximize business return ensuring that key business factors are understood and measured e.g. impact on usage, revenue and risk.
- Create and run an effective range of segmentation and test programs in a fully controlled environment.
- Establish and maintain effective strategy performance tracking ensuring that strategies are performing as expected and feeding back learning into strategy and / or policy changes in a timely manner.
- Identify and make enhancements to the business's use of internal and external data sources within account management processes.
- Provide thoughtful leadership and set a positive example for team members.
Requirements
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong background in data analysis in support of business strategies. Proven track record of credit risk management within a credit card environment (minimum 5-7 years depending on experience level), and ideally will have previous experience of risk/marketing criteria development.
- Solid understanding of profitability, loss, and attrition interrelationships.
- Extensive SAS and SQL programming skills, preferably in Unix environment. Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under own initiative with ability to set priorities and deliver quality results in a deadline driven environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to translate analysis into clearly defined and supportable strategies / policies and present to senior management.
- A high level of inquisitiveness, initiative and critical thinking required to formulate business issues into analytical problems and devise actionable solutions.
- Proficiency in analytical principles, tools and techniques.
- Proficiency with statistical software and other analytical tools, including SAS and MS Excel.
Bachelor degree required; MBA, MS or Ph. D. degree in quantitative disciplines (mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, econometrics, etc.) preferred.
