PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE: Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the nation's leading reproductive health care advocate, seeks a Data Analyst to work within its Data Analytics Group (DAG). The Data Analyst's primary functions are to (a) manage and complete the various processes associated with the major surveys by which PPFA gathers financial, services, client demographics, education and diversity data from Planned Parenthood affiliates; and (b) direction and management of end-user training, documentation, and customer relationship management processes associated with a secure, internal website dedicated to improving the dissemination of information within the national organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Processes associated with major annual and quarterly PPFA surveys

  • Management of tracking and follow up processes associated with ensuring timely survey completion and supporting documentation submission by all affiliates; communication of submission deadlines and report publication
  • Reconciliation and audit of submitted financial data via usage of error-trapping/testing macros; resolution of encountered issues with senior affiliate staff, as appropriate
  • Review and analysis of large sets of affiliate data to not only ensure accuracy but also discern trends and identify areas of opportunity for further analysis
  • Creation and distribution of survey forms and annual, quarterly and ad hoc reports
  • Management of MS SharePoint groups containing affiliate staff authorized to complete each survey
Customer Relationship Management and Quality Improvement
  • Acts as primary point of contact for affiliate and national inquiries regarding data submission and report generation
  • Responsible for regularly scheduled contact with affiliate staff to ensure affiliate data contained in the Data Analytics Database are current
  • Management of department interaction with users via discussion boards
Training
  • Implements and manages training of users on accessing and updating all sub-sites within the internal website, including multiple forms, reporting areas, and the FAQ and discussion board areas
  • Updates and disseminates training support materials
Documentation
  • Maintains documentation of site functionality, as appropriate
  • Updates documentation as new functionality is introduced to the site
  • Responsible for updating FAQ with new content and removing old content; proactively transforms user questions and feedback into FAQ entries

CONTACTS:
Data Analyst regularly works with staff in other departments, and divisions to produce work and to ensure work is on time and meets performance goals. Because this position also requires a high degree of contact with affiliate staff, especially senior management, sometimes in delicate circumstances, an ability exercise good judgment and discretion is very important. As a member of the DAG team, the Data Analyst also works to identify opportunities to expand program activities, develop work products and build professional relationships that demonstrate and enhance PPFA's commitment to diversity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Four-year college degree.

Experience: A minimum of three years' professional experience is required. The ideal background would be a mix of data analysis, logistical/operations support and web content management. Financial analysis experience required. Experience with SQL Server 2005 or 2008 preferred. A high degree of familiarity with Windows-based Office applications, particularly with MS Excel, is required. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a changing environment while maintaining focus and purpose, will have strong customer service and organizational skills, attention to detail and effective oral and written communication skills, and will be a self-starter who can follow through with projects with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills are important, as is a great sense of humor.
