Responsibilities:

Translate business and customer needs into technology solutions

• Design highly scalable, reliable, extensible and maintainable applications and platforms while balancing various parameters like cost, constraints, requirements, and complexity
• Drive technical designs through consensus and approval across a cross-functional organization
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure that designs are implemented effectively
• Work closely with business, product management and engineering teams to drive elements of product strategy
• Stay abreast of technology developments and leverage as necessary to improve domain and enterprise-wide technical perspectives, standards and solutions
• Mentor product, engineering and architecture team members
• Establish standards, guidelines, patterns and best practices in the assigned domain

Expert in software and system architecture principles

• Expert in Internet systems design and standards
• Excellent knowledge of technologies that are core to large, high scale websites like eBay - distributed systems, cloud computing, web services, multi-tier serving architectures, and variety of presentation mechanisms
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Expert in programming languages, especially Java and C++
• Excellent knowledge of web technologies and web services standards
• Excellent skills in influencing, resolving conflicts and leadership
• Excellent knowledge of eCommerce ecosystem - Companies, Technologies, Standards
• Experience in one or more eCommerce domains like Trading, Security, Fraud, Advertising, Search, Mobile Commerce, Social Commerce
• Facilitate communication with business and ability to convert high level business plans into architecture and communicate it to peers, business partners and development organization is a must.

• MS and 12 years of professional experience; 10+ years of directly related experience in designing high scale websites and web services
• Large company experience preferred
