Responsibilities:

• Design and implement systems and features for improving the relevance of Shopping.com's next-generation search engine
• Apply creativity and insight into the development of algorithms and tools for content classification and machine-learned ranking in close cooperation with the research team
• Develop business and system metrics related to search engine performance, conduct experiments, analyze results, and make improvements
• Collaborate with product management to refine and prioritize new requirements

• Demonstrated experience in search engine relevance measurement, testing, and tuning
• Experience developing and applying machine learning techniques for content classification, machine-learned ranking, and data mining
• Experience developing and deploying large scale performance-sensitive distributed systems
• Strong grasp of data structures and algorithm fundamentals
• Outstanding communication skills and a track record of achievement in a dynamic team development environment
• Industrial experience using Extreme Programming and/or Agile methods preferred
• Entrepreneurial spirit and strong drive to innovate any aspect of the company

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Expert level knowledge of object oriented design and multi-threaded implementation techniques in C++ and/or Java
• Experience using Hadoop, Hive, Pig
• Experience using Lucene and/or Solr a plus
