Business Analyst, Amazon.com Forecasting Team

The Amazon Forecasting team seeks an analytically and technically strong Business Analyst to join our team. Facing many challenging and interesting business problems, we develop sophisticated algorithms based on the latest statistics tools and data mining methodologies. You can help us to discover problems, solve problems, and build metrics to impact the core business of Amazon. In a typical day, you will work closely with talented software engineers, scientists, and various business groups. You are an individual with outstanding analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, good business understanding, and comfort with technical teams and systems. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys diving into data, pays strong attention to detail, and is excited about investigations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze weekly forecast accuracy metrics to uncover trends.
• Run simulations to diagnose and monitor system performance.
• Build metrics for and analyze key inputs to the forecasting system.
• Analyze data and run computational experiments on the new forecasting models built by machine learning scientists.
• Provide analytical support and communicate to business customers.

• A BS or MS in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science
• 3+ years working experience
• Experience with SQL and UNIX
• Solid communication skills
• Software development experience will be an advantage
• Experience with Matlab or R is a plus
