Data Mining Scientist

TidalTV, a leading online video advertising technology startup, is seeking an exceptional individual to support its data mining efforts as a member of the Research and Development team. Our mission is to provide our clients with the ability to target their advertisements to exactly the right person. We collect huge amounts of data from diverse sources to help us do that, and our data mining group is responsible for developing machine learning algorithms to help us use that data to perfect our targeting capabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Research, design, and develop new predictive technologies to help TidalTV leverage its data to support TidalTV's business
• Support TidalTV's ongoing research into ad network optimization
• Support existing predictive modeling and optimization technologies
• Work closely with software development and data warehousing team to implement and deploy research systems
• Help with ad hoc data analysis needs from other business units

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• 1-3 years experience in machine learning in an academic or industrial setting
• Strong knowledge of state of the art machine learning techniques, including but not limited to maximum entropy modeling, graphical models, association rules, and techniques for online learning and clustering.
• Proficiency in at least one statistical modeling environment, such as R.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably C#, Java, or Python.
• Demonstrated ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced work environment
• Demonstrated ability to successfully work both independently and collaboratively
• Experience with Hadoop/Map-reduce a plus
• Practical knowledge of statistics, e.g. hypothesis testing, survey design is helpful
