Data Analytics Specialist

Role synopsis: Apply data mining, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics to BP applications in oil and gas exploration and production

Key accountabilities

• Provide external experience and technologies not currently used extensively
• Provide data mining technology support for a wide variety of potential data-based applications
• Support and manage projects to deliver data-driven capabilities to BP assets

Essential experience and job requirements

• Minimum 10 years experience in applying data mining, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics in business analytics or scientific/engineering setttings
• Experience with applying machine learning and knowledge discovery techniques to large, complex data sets from a variety of sources.
• Ability use algorithms and predictive models to solve real world business problems
• Expert knowledge of R and some other computational systems such as Matlab, SPSS, and SAS
• Highly motivated with the ability to work on a multitude of projects on an ongoing basis
• Understanding of importance of BP's Safety and Operational Risk agenda and Code of Conduct

• PhD in Engineering, Science or Mathematics
• Background in applications in engineering and science
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of C/C++ programming, VBA, relational databases
