Associate Predictive Modeler

The Allstate Research and Planning Center (ARPC) in Menlo Park, CA is seeking a predictive modeler for its Analytics group, who will work with a team of highly skilled and expert predictive modelers at one of the leading property and casualty insurance companies. Analytics is a key driver of how Allstate operates and creates value. We use a variety of modeling tools and algorithms to build sophisticated models that have a direct impact on the business.

We are looking for an innovative, analytical problem-solver with ability to apply quantitative knowledge and/or expertise to solve real world problems. This role requires collaborating with business units in order to improve the effectiveness of business decisions, effectively understanding the business problems and requirements, recommending appropriate analytical/statistical techniques, coordinating and executing projects, and communicating and sharing findings.

Qualifications:

• Graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or operations research.
• Strong skills with statistical software such as SAS, Matlab, R or statistics/machine learning libraries (Python, C++, Java).
• Proven ability to manipulate and find meaningful patterns in large amounts of data.
• Proven knowledge of statistical or data mining modeling techniques such as linear regression, tree models, data visualization, cluster analysis, principal components or feature creation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working in a UNIX and/or Linux environment a plus.
• Ability to program in Python or another scripting language a plus.
