Position Summary:
Sirius XM Radio is looking for a resourceful and motivated individual to join our Strategic Analytics team. This team leads the initiative to harness customer data in addressing strategic issues that materially impact our business. The primary responsibility for the Senior Manager role is conducting statistical analyses in support of our marketing and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will have strong consultative skills in addition to quantitative ability.
The successful candidate will also be exposed to the challenges of using statistics in a business setting, such as incomplete data, biased data, large data sets, low signal-to-noise ratios, high variance and multiple objective functions. Requires being creative and resourceful and we will utilize traditional statistical methodologies as well as newer techniques from computational statistics and data mining.
Satellite radio is a young but proven market with growth potential. This is a great opportunity to get first-hand experience at a fast-moving media company with a rich data set consisting of millions of customers from numerous channels making decisions during their life cycles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and execute exploratory analyses to address current business questions, typically requiring manipulation of large amounts of data, linking across multiple databases, writing of complex code, and refining analysis plans over the course of projects
- Develop statistical models to support our marketing efforts, such as customer segmentation, acquisition and retention
- Develop statistical testing programs to measure and improve on-going performance of marketing campaigns
- Apply appropriate techniques, such as exploratory data analysis, regression, bootstrapping, trees, cluster analysis, survival analysis and so on
- Develop and articulate strategic recommendations based on rigorous data analysis
- Partner with Marketing and Finance to understand business problems and marketing strategies
- Partner with IT to implement models and tests
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of general business experience, including 3-4 years of quantitative analysis in a business setting, including building statistical models and using statistical methods
- 3-5 years of computer coding, including SAS and SQL
- MS in Statistics, Data Mining, Econometrics or related fields; MBA helpful
Requirements and General Skills:
- Exceptional ability to extract strategic insights from large data sets
- Strong ability to build coherent stories and presentations illustrating insights from data
- Ability to work in a dynamic, uncertain environment in which project objectives are refined while data is being analyzed
- Desire and ability to collaborate with business partners
- 1 or more years of experience in retail, entertainment or auto industries a plus
- Occasional travel to Washington, DC may be required.
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in SAS and SQL
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Systems administration skills a plus
