They are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented software engineer to join a small independent team responsible for building forecast models and developing advanced algorithms to perform network based search and text extraction through entity resolution. The successful candidate will be required to be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism. The candidate's primary duty will be to architect and implement targeting models that used advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
Advanced Analytics
The Advanced Analytics service area is comprised of individuals with experience in the areas of risk management, business and operational targeting processes, computational linguistics, machine learning, knowledge discovery, semantic engineering, probabilistic and statistical data mining. Advanced Analytics professionals use these skills to assess, analyze, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of targeting methods, operational control processes, offer recommendations to improve operations, and assist clients with enterprise risk and compliance activities.
In this role, you will be part of a small independent team performing analysis, implementation
and support for a large federal agency with the following responsibilities:
- Develop and implement algorithms that work with unstructured and structured, large
scale data for forecasting and risk assessment
- Design and build semantic platform to perform entity resolution and link analysis
- Support technical development activities such as latent semantic indexing design and programming for client delivery that meets expectations as well as provide input to/leading white paper and analytical studies
- Develop information retrieval, text extraction and classification techniques, and
algorithms from unstructured and structured datasets
- Client interaction includes daily contact across multiple teams and personnel including executive management
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement algorithms that work with unstructured and structured, large scale data for forecasting and risk assessment
- Design and build semantic platform to perform entity resolution and link analysis
- Support technical development activities such as latent semantic indexing design and programming for client delivery that meets expectations as well as provide input to/leading white paper and analytical studies
- Develop information retrieval, text extraction and classification techniques, and algorithms from unstructured and structured data
- Build and deploy real time online targeting system that utilize machine learning techniques and the advanced statistical models and algorithms
- Create adaptive models to support the development, testing, delivery and maintenance of semantic operation and data management
- Build analytic models and workflows that process large datasets for risk assessment, information retrieval and data mining
- Experience planning and managing analytical projects
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Expertise preparing and delivering analytical presentations
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Effectively communicating with internal teams and external clients to deliver analytical solutions and provide leadership through consulting
- Very strong analytical skills coupled with business intelligence and a deep understanding of data mining, working with large data sets and data platforms
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or advanced degree in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or related analytical field of study
- 7 plus years professional experience consulting with clients to design and develop predictive models using machine learning techniques
- 2 plus years professional experience utilizing natural language processing techniques including classification, entity resolution, text extraction
- Strong knowledge of advanced information retrieval algorithms such as Latent Semantic
Indexing, fuzzy cognitive maps, classification, clustering, expert models, document summarization and artificial intelligence
- Strong capability to build algorithms and perform entity resolution, text extraction, name variation and disambiguation techniques
- Expertise in Java and enterprise development experience with open source, commercial
analytical modeling platforms, data mining and information retrieval methods
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Detail oriented with accurate, timely outcomes
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for driving results
- Work in a collaborative manner with team members and customers to gather
requirements, analyze data and interact with multiple internal data management groups to support data analysis and develop analytical processes for operations
- Strong time management skills and proven ability to work on time---sensitive deliverables
- Prior Federal consulting experience in statistics and related service area preferred
- A current Customs and Border Protection or Department of Homeland Security Background Investigation is strongly desired
- Willingness to travel and flexibility to commute to clients in the DC metro area as Needed
