JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Business Systems Analyst Senior - Statistical Analyst you will be responsible for the continual optimization of the Mantas and tactical AML scenarios employed by the AML Surveillance group to monitor transactional activity relative to Anti-money laundering. You will be based at FirstSide Center in downtown Pittsburgh.

In this role you will interface with AML Surveillance management, Compliance management, technology, audit, internal and external experts, peer groups and AML Surveillance investigators to perform statistical and expert analysis of the Mantas (vendor) and tactical scenarios with the goal of continual optimization. Optimization ensures the delivery of the most productive work to the surveillance group for further investigation of the transactional activity. You will also work to mitigate risks to the organization through involvement with compliance, review of enterprise risk assessments and industry and regulatory notification of emerging threats. Risk mitigation may involve either enhancements to existing scenarios or the introduction of new scenario offerings to cover these threats. Although you will follow a defined methodology for tuning, you will be expected to analyze industry, company, technology trends and best practices and to document/recommend improvements to business strategies around optimization with the goal of greater effectiveness and efficiency and improved risk management.

Additional responsibilities include assembling tuning project teams, detailing and then assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of various business/financial projects of a moderately complex nature; application of technology and project management skills to successfully complete projects on a timely basis; developing reporting and performing statistical analysis and other quantitative metrics in support of the AML Surveillance group.

Additional duties will include:

  • Evaluating the potential impact of financial decisions and regulatory issues and making recommendations to management for planning and decision making purposes.
  • Datamining and developing and running queries in support of process optimization, problem solving and testing for various solutions
  • Identifying areas of improvement and working with the business stakeholders to uncover suitable solutions.
  • Measuring and analyzing data to determine primary drivers, improve the process and implement sustainable controls.
  • Tracking and reporting operational statistics, analyzing results and forecasting future trends.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Masters Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated leadership qualifications and experience.
  • Proven project management skills, problem solving skills, decision-making skills, time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Broad understanding of AML, financial transactions and related systems.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Solid command of MS Office software (particularly Excel)
  • Exceptional SQL or other query tools & report writing tool skills
  • Exceptionally knowledgeable of information sources and data management.
  • Well versed in information collection, information management methods, analysis techniques, and analytics.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Ability to understand complex data models.
  • Ability to understand business processes and procedures & strategic goals.
  • Ability to understand how tactical projects fit into the strategic plan.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to drive process change using data driven decision making.
