Job Summary:
The Manager of Statistical Modeling and Data Mining will be responsible for detailed subscriber level behavior analysis using the appropriate statistical techniques. Position will require leadership to define technical analysis that supports organization initiatives. Candidate must have proven success in developing a strategy while being able to execute and deliver on business goals along with strong competency and comfort working with and analyzing large datasets.
Essential Functions:
Ability to manage statistical modeling/data mining projects including supervision of the activities of on-site consultants or FTEs (as applicable) for analyst level functions
- Communicate statistical analysis findings to non-technically trained audiences
- Describe technique, limitations, tradeoff risks, and opportunities to enhance analyses
- Determine appropriate approach to meet the needs of various statistical inquiries
- Knowledge of when and how to apply multivariate regression, logistic regression, neural networks, decision tree analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, multi-dimensional scaling, conjoint analysis
- Experience Managing large (5M+ records) data extraction and manipulation
- Able to write SQL and utilizing Oracle databases, using SAS including Base SAS, SAS STAT, Enterprise Miner
- Knowledge acquiring, aggregating, and standardizing inputs from multiple business processes such as IVR records, billing system transactions, web site activity, and point of sale systems
- Ability to build and support analytical databases as needed
- Lead analytics projects with other functional teams including marketing, network, and supply chain
Develop advanced analytical processes to support customer retention improvements
- Subscriber survival modeling to predict subscriber deactivations
- Utilizing macroeconomic as well as internal data sets
- Identify behaviors and events affecting defection/loyalty rates and assist in the design and analytical support of programs to drive desired behaviors
- Trial analysis & CRM
- Build predictive models comparing various statistical methods, implementing the most appropriate approach for the campaign
- Assist in test and control design and post trial analysis
- Customer Lifetime Value - Leverage CLV scoring to develop retention initiatives optimizing investment required to increase subscriber retention and loyalty
Expand team capabilities to mine data on customer usage and network analytics
- Aggregate and analyze various types of customer usage data including: Minutes of Use (MOU), SMS, MMS, and data usage
- Perform behavioral segmentation based on usage
- Incorporate usage into other statistical models such as churn model and CLV
- Support product teams with analysis correlating feature usage with customer behavior
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in MIS, Statistical Modeling or Data Mining applied to Business Marketing or equivalent work experience required
- Master's degree in MIS, Statistical Modeling or Data Mining applied to Business Marketing preferred
Industry Experience:
- Consumer Products required
- Telecom, high-tech, cable or satellite preferred
Job Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in Consumer Products required
- 5-7 years of experience in Telecom, high-tech, cable or satellite preferred
