- This role will split time between the headquarters and the sales office in Manhattan.
- When the headquarters moves to Stamford, CT in December of 2011, this role will move to Stamford.
Job Description:
Problem solver who has good technical skills (e.g. Excel, Access, and/or SQL) and can clearly communicate findings. A high level of curiosity, motivation, and willingness to continually learn will make the person very successful.
Essential Functions:
- Analyze sales data, trends, and information to uncover key drivers of performance and assist in developing recommendations using Excel, Access, and/or SQL
- Assist in development, creation, and execution of new sales strategies and support across multiple teams
- Conduct analytics on sales data to uncover the drivers of sales performance and provide recommendations on how to drive more business
- Create ad hoc analyses on relevant sales issues to help senior leaders make business decisions
- Design, run, and analyze new and existing tools with Excel, Access and/or SQL to assist decision making
- Assist in development of new sales tools help address sellers' and Starwood's needs
- Run and analyze existing reports to help sellers and leaders make decisions
- Support account teams and help service customers
- Make decisions and/or mediate regarding account challenges or concerns
- Deliver accurate and immediate follow-up, while interacting with customers, hotels and teams
- Identifying long term opportunity areas to improve sales and operations
Requirements:
- Strong technical skills
- Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in quantitative field (e.g. math, computer science, physics, statistics)
- 2-4 years of working with and analyzing data and reports preferred
- Superior Excel & Access skills, especially with higher analytics and modeling (e.g. vlookups, sumifs, pivots)
- Experience with SQL, Microstrategy, or statistics programming a plus
- Strong quantitative analytics and data interpretation skills that can address business issues
- High initiative, independence, and time management skills
- Strong time management skills to deliver results
- Strategic problem solver who can find insights and appropriate recommendations
- High curiosity and the willingness to continue to learn and grow
- Passion for sales strategy and analytics
- Good team player
- Good communicator who can build rapport with sellers as well as clients
