Job Description
The Knowledge and Decision Systems group of Siemens Corporate Research (SCR), a Division of Siemens Corporation located in Princeton, NJ has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer in charge of developing enterprise applications that handle large amounts of data and use distributed infrastructures for data integration and mining.
Mandatory requirements:
- Proven Java SE and Java EE experience (at least 5 years of experience), experience in using Spring and Hibernate/JPA
- Experience in processing and analyzing large data sets
- Experience in using and tuning in MS SQL Server and/or Oracle relational databases
- Exposure to configuration management (versioning control, continuous integration, Apache Maven)
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in implementing statistical and data mining algorithms.
- Experience with NoSQL such as Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, MongoDB, NuSQL, etc.
- Good scripting skills in at least one common language (Python, Perl, Shell)
- Experience with C/C++/C# using Microsoft technologies
- Knowledge open-source Java Frameworks
Processes:
- Good understanding of various software products lifecycles (Waterfall, Agile, etc)
- Knowledge about the so-called ilities: stability, maintainability, scalability, security etc.
Soft skills:
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to lead small (offshore) teams and work in a peer-to-peer model
- The ability to anticipate the needs of the project and multitask
