Doing business on the Internet is not for the faint of heart. In adCenter, we generate billions of dollars in revenue each year and process hundreds of millions of transactions per day, with stagering growth in both revenue and volumes. We provide great value to our clients, but there are others with malicious intent lurking in the dark recesses of the web who attempt to enrich themselves by cheating honest customers with sophisticated and clever schemes. Our job is to defeat them.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with engineering teams and business stakeholders to develop the long term strategy for combatting fraud and improving traffic quality across adCenter;
- Establishing priorities and the tactical plan for implementing this strategy;
- Using data mining and machine learning to design predictive models for detecting various low-quality online traffic patterns;
- Representing Microsoft at industry conferences such as KDD;
- Working with standards bodies to influence standards and ensure compliance; and
- Helping to develop and drive our emergent data mining, modeling and machine learning team.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Are you ready to fight the good fight? We're looking for a candidate with a strong data mining background focused on machine learning and statistics.
If that sounds like you, we want you to help us develop and manage the long-term strategy for fraud processing across adCenter. Use of stolen credit cards, exploiting our system to steal free advertising, pushing malware to unsuspecting users, sophisticated botnet attacks - we're on the lookout for these and other bad behaviors.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
PhD in field of Data Mining, Machine Learning, Mathematics or Operational Research; and 3+ years of software development and applied research experience; OR MS degree in Data Mining, Machine Learning, Mathematics or Operational Research with 8+ yrs of software development and applied research experience. Prior experience with online advertising is preferred.
