JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Manager of Marketing Database and Campaign Analytics is responsible for leading the execution of the analytics and data strategy needed to meet the requirements of the marketing organization. The functions that the data strategy supports and impacts include:

  • Campaign development and test design
  • List creation
  • Data overlays
  • Campaign analysis and reporting
  • Data feed creation
  • Process integrity
Since the Manager will functions as a marketing data steward and analytic expert, he/she must be familiar with not only marketing-generated data, but also data created and stored by sales, operations, information warehouse, set-top box, audience measurement and metrics organizations in order to make this data accessible for use in detailed and complex campaigning and analytic functions.

Additionally, the Manager must understand the technical abilities of analytic and campaign team members, both to determine assignment of ad hoc and ongoing requests, and to assist in development and training plans to ensure current personnel maximize database resources appropriately.

Responsibilities include managing to the database budget, negotiating pricing and terms with external data vendors, and ensuring process integrity for key database systems including SAS and Epiphany. In addition, the Manager of Database and Campaign analytics is responsible for directing the daily activities of campaign analysts to ensure that deliverables are met as well as for identifying new data sources for analysis and campaigns and helping to secure access and enabling users access and training in the SAS environment.

SPECIFIC OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THIS POSITION:

  1. Create and update strategies and tactical plans for data acquisition, maintenance and use to advance and enhance database marketing and analytic capabilities.
  2. Negotiate financial arrangements and schedules with external vendors to acquire additional data for analysis and database marketing campaigns.
  3. Identify new data sources that will enhance analytics and database marketing capabilities.
  4. Create complex analysis, interpret results and provide a point of view to upper management, peers and customers from other groups utilizing database marketing analytical services.
  5. Utilize the SAS platform as well as the Marketing data sandbox to answer business questions relating to campaigns or business issues.
  6. Utilize SAS Enterprise Guide to identify data trends and create targeting models that will lead to more efficient targeting of direct mail or marketing campaigns.
  7. Utilize SAS Web report studio to create self-service data portals for the marketing manager groups.
  8. Identify, recommend necessary analysis to Analyze and solve business issues.
  9. Assist with user acceptance tests for release of impacting systems containing data for analytics and campaigns.
  10. Manage collection and documentation of data and research system issues.
  11. Cross train database marketing staff and ensure that data is accessible to all users in the group.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years experience in data base system analysis
  • 5-7 years experience in data analysis
  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science/MIS, preferred but not required)
  • Advanced knowledge of cable customer and operational data a plus
  • Experience as a user or support for a major campaign management platform
  • Advanced knowledge of SAS and data analytics
  • Expertise in SQL and SAS programming, problem analysis, and database analysis
  • Ability to negotiate effective contracts and oversee projects with vendors
  • Track record as a team player as well as a leader who can direct and delegate to staff
  • Demonstrated flexibility, goal orientation and relationship management skills
  • Strong written and oral communications
