Sr. Database Architect

We are assembling a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, developers and analysts to support campaign and marketing efforts. Our ideal candidate will thrive in a "start-up" type environment; will enjoy finding creative solutions to daily challenges; work well with a diverse team; and do his or her best work on short timelines, and with limited budgets.

Position will support politically right of center organizations. Our operation will play a central role in the 2012 election cycle. However, political experience is not required.

Location of the position is flexible but prefer applicants living in or willing to relocate to: Northern Virginia, or Southern California, or Salt Lake City area.

Key responsibilities:

• Assume "from day one" responsibility (architect, implementation and daily maintenance) for an active data warehouse at the scale of billions of rows.
• Supervise design and implementation of internal and third-party database applications for retrieving and updating data.
• Provide strategic guidance about and tactical ingenuity for acquiring and integrating valuable new data sources, including consumer data, survey data, media ratings data, client data and government data, often on aggressive timeframes.
• Supervise and mentor junior database staff.
• Be aware of new and emerging technologies that provide tactical advantage to our clients.

• BS/BA in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or demonstrable equivalent experience
• 5+ years as a production DBA on the MS SQL platform (2008 experience preferred) in a Windows environment
• End-to-end enterprise database management, from design to implementation and maintenance
• Experience with redundancy designs, as well as designing and implementing a disaster recovery plan
• Experience with unpredictable data sources and an ability to quickly produce flexible ETL pipelines
• Special consideration for engineers proficient with IBM/SPSS statistical and data mining software.
