PrecisionDemand aims to change the face of TV advertising by introducing a range of new algorithms and technologies that will make TV trackable and targetable like online. TV is an area of significant untapped potential. Hours watched on TV are at their highest ever measured according to Nielsen - even with the increase in time spent on the internet and mobile devices. In addition over $60 billion dollars is spent annually on TV advertising - far greater than $20 billion on internet search. However targeting and tracking is antiquated, and the internet revolution seems to have left TV by the wayside. Well, not if we have something to do about it. Think of an ad-server running on TV and you'll start seeing the potential. Think of lifts in the 20x range and you'll start to realize the incredible untapped value. You should be a part of the new revolution in TV.

The successful candidate should expect to engage in a variety of roles in our innovative startup including

  • High-end Analytic Consulting for Fortune 500 companies in order to optimize their performance on TV.
  • Work with the client account management team to present proposals, update results, and provide conclusions directly to clients.
  • Conduct presentations, lead client meetings, and explain complex concepts.
  • Create new analyses and prototypes
  • Perform detailed analysis in SQL, C# and other programmatic environments
  • Create rapid analyses and models in Excel in support of solving client problems
The ideal candidate will have a PhD, MSc or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics or another quantitative or numerical field. Programmer-level knowledge of machine learning algorithms including AdaBoost, C4.5, Gaussian mixtures, A Priori association rule mining, Radial basis function neural nets, optimization methods, curve fitting. Experience in experiment design and statistical hypothesis testing (parametric and non-parametric) is also useful.

Expert abilities with Excel will be important as many of our models are presented using this tool. Expert-level knowledge of SQL will also enable you to mine gigabytes of data from our SQLServer databases. Familiarity with scientific programming languages such as Matlab, scripting languages such as Perl, and 3GLs such as C would also be beneficial as many analyses will be new and will need to be manipulated.

The successful candidate will not only need to know algorithms - they will need to "have a knack" and genuine talent with data analysis. Given some raw data in a spreadsheet or database and a business question, the candidate should be able to analyze it and deliver relevant results. A successful track record of previous analytical consulting work for clients would be helpful. Peer-reviewed publications - or unpublished works that showcase your previous engagements - would be desirable.

Communication and presentation skills need to be excellent. The candidate should be able to conduct presentations, meet with clients and explain difficult concepts to them. They will also need to work closely as a team with others in the company in order to solve some of the hardest problems in the industry.
