Quantcast is hiring a Modeling Engineer, a software engineer with a strong production development background and a keen interest in Machine Learning, Data Mining and Statistics. This role will work on Quantcast's core R&D group. Modeling Engineers are responsible for tackling Quantcast's most persistent and complex data mining and machine learning problems.
The Modeling Engineer will be responsible for mining multi-petabyte data sets and implementing advanced machine learning solutions to create and optimize targeting models used in Quantcast's Audience service.

Quantcast's Modeling Team works closely with our Scientific Advisory board, comprised of Stanford professors Jerome Friedman and Trevor Hastie. As leaders in the fields of data mining and statistics both professors take an active interest in Quantcast and our ongoing work.

Responsibilities:
- Software development of analysis tools, prototype models and data visualizations
- Apply machine learning and statistical best practices to media delivery and analytic services
- Interface with optimization and development teams to deliver solutions for client ad campaigns
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, or related field
- At least 2 years recent programming experience in a production environment
- Direct experience applying Machine Learning and Data Mining algorithms to solve complex problems of massive scale
Technologies:
- Excellent object oriented programming skills (Java strongly preferred)
- Experience working in a Unix (ideally Linux) environment
- Experience with R or S a plus
- Database experience (especially SQL) a plus
- Interest in working with MapReduce technologies (such as Hadoop) a plus
