General Function:
The Manager of Credit Risk will build and manage a team to support Axcess Financial's global,
retail, credit businesses. The Manager will provide overall leadership in innovating, building, and implementing risk
based pricing solutions that increase the value of underwriting for lending operations. The manager will lead or
supervise projects including but not limited to the following: credit risk models (e.g., probability of default, exposure at
default, loss given default, loss severity) price elasticity models, customer lifetime value models, and pricing optimization
algorithms. The Manager will provide leadership in project design and project management from inception through post
implementation monitoring. The manager will build, lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts and is responsible for
team productivity and work quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Credit Risk Modeling and Analytics:
- Lead predictive modeling and analytics projects from inception through post-implementation
monitoring. Projects to include:
- Probability of default models
- Exposure at default models
- Loss given default models
- Loss severity models
- Price elasticity models
- Customer lifetime value models
- Pricing optimization algorithms
- Generate and test ideas to use new modeling and analytical methodologies to improve accuracy
and cost to implement
- Research and evaluate internal/external data sources to increase value of credit risk related
predictive modeling and analytics
- Drive continual improvement to the project management framework by incorporating post project
learning/experience
Collaboration / Internal Consultancy:
- Own, build, and continually improve relationships with internal customers
- Convincingly communicate with internal customers and senior management to explain the benefits,
limits, and requirements for proposed solutions
- Proactively identify and propose ways to use decision sciences to deliver value
- Collaborate with other business functions (e.g., finance and IT) to develop and implement analytical
and modeling solutions
- Contribute to decisions regarding development/revision of data and decisioning architecture
Policy Development / Thought Leadership:
- Collaborate with team members to develop strategic policy standards and risk-based lending
principals
- Contribute to senior-level management discussions and decision making sessions when necessary
- Provide intellectual leadership and analytical support to Sr. Management in efforts to develop new products
Team Leadership
- Manage a team of analytic staff in support of the functions listed above
- Train and develop staff, including hiring, promotions, and corrective actions
- Quality control/improvement of output from team under management
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises other employees: Credit Risk Analysts
Skills Description
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- 6+ years experience building predictive models using linear regression, logistic regression, and decision tree methodologies
- 4+ years experience using analytics to support credit risk assessment and/or underwriting activities
- 3+ years experience with SAS and SQL programming or expert level certification
- 3+ years experience managing 2+ people
- Masters degree in quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering)
- Strong communication skills to present project plans and results to senior management
- Strong business intuition to identify opportunities to apply modeling/analytics to drive value for internal customers
- Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple simultaneous projects
- Living in, or willing to relocate to, Cincinnati, Ohio
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Experience in installment, unsecured, or alternative lending
- Experience applying survival analysis methods within a business environment
- Experience in consumer financial services
- Experience building and developing a team
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment
- Extended viewing of computer screens
- Limited travel may be required
