The Risk Detection's mission is to detect and prevent fraud and merchandise losses through world-class predictive analytics and decision strategies. We work to understand and identify the business drivers of PayPal's losses, monitor key drivers/segments, quickly identifying the root cause of observed trends and actively work towards mitigating the risk by using state-of-the-art analytical tools and techniques.
We are currently looking for a Manager to join the team. This individual will utilize their exceptional technical skills along with their strong problem-solving and analytical skills to help advance the detection capabilities of PayPal.
Primary Responsibilities
- The manager will design and lead the execution of sophisticated quantitative analyses that translate PayPal's fraud/risk data into digestible and actionable insights.
- Maintain a strong relationship with Risk Operations and other business units to ensure alignment in overall business outcomes. Work with these internal business partners to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the end-to-end fraud detection and prevention process.
- Conduct root cause analysis of fraud loss data and stay abreast of existing, new and emerging fraud trends. Develop and implement tactical responses in a timely and effective manner.
- Manage a team of highly-motivated analysts to help the individuals and the groups succeed.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise and desire to work hands-on in analyzing large data sets.
- Strong programming background and ability to learn new languages quickly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Passion for problem-solving, flexibility, comfort with ambiguity, and creativity.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and innovatively and proven track record for delivering results.
- High energy and a desire to work in a results- and team-oriented, rapid growth environment.
- Will be required to travel 15 %.
- Master's or Ph.D from a quantitative discipline, such as Computational Finance, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research and Applied Sciences.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a relevant field, preferably within Finance, Risk Management or Quantitative Research.
