SoftwareFrom: Kathleen Fisher kfisher@research.att.comDate: Tue, 3 Apr 2001 16:25:54 -0500 (CDT) Subject: New version of Hancock available A new version of Hancock, the system that received the KDD 2000 best research paper award, is now available. Hancock is a C-based domain-specific language designed to make it easy to read, write, and maintain programs that manipulate large amounts of relatively uniform transactional data. For a given data-processing task, Hancock may be suitable if the task requires a small number of passes over a relatively uniform data source and it requires storing persistent information. The new release (version 1.1) is available for non-commercial use in binary for: * x86-Linux * SGI-Irix * Sparc-Solaris * Sparc-SunOS *** The binary forms do not require Standard ML of New Jersey (SML/NJ) for installation or execution. *** It is also available as source code. The new release (version 1.1) changes the representation of maps to improve performance, adds a new type, called pickles, to permit users to define their own persistent data structures, and fixes bugs. You may pick up the new release from: http://www.research.att.com/projects/hancock If you wish to receive Hancock-related announcements in the future, please send mail to hancock@research.att.com and you will be included on the distribution email list. |
