Requests

I am eager to contact researchers who are using data mining techniques to understand scientific data. I am an astronomer and I have been using machine learning methods to classify galaxies by morphology. While I am aware of several other groups in astronomy that are using similar techniques, I am very interested in talking with people in other fields as well. I believe that data mining methods have been used in astronomy, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, genetics, and Earth science. I would like to talk with researchers in these, and any other scientific areas, to discuss what techniques are being used, what commercial software suites have been tried, and what kinds of success stories are out there.
