Coredge Software releases knowledge preview tool for legal market

Ottawa, Ontario - June 19, 2002 - Coredge Software, an Ottawa-based technology company is addressing the needs of the legal marketplace to access and manage massive amounts of electronic information, by developing Logik, a knowledge preview tool, that sifts through unstructured information like e-mail and files found in public folders, on hard drives and the Internet, to reveal relevant content.

Coredge Logik - My Edition v1.0, launched in November 2001, aids the electronic discovery process, which requires lawyers and paralegals to read and assess the content of hundreds and, in some cases, thousands of electronic documents in preparation for litigation. These documents are typically stored in formats and repositories with no standards or consistency in their naming conventions, sizes or storage locations. This lack of structure makes it difficult to hone in on relevant information.

Coredge saw the need to move beyond traditional text search and retrieval tools, which force users to know the right questions to ask in order to find information - typically a time-consuming, trial-and-error exercise.

"Text retrieval demands the use of formal keywords for searching, which doesn't work well with an informal medium like e-mail - where most information is exchanged today," said Gabriel Cassis, Coredge president and CEO. "Logik previews the essential content of electronic files for you and reveals interrelationships between documents. It has enormous value for the legal marketplace and for other industries that deal with large amounts of electronic information."
