Ariadne Genomics Inc has developed MedScan, a completely automated system based on advanced natural language processing (NLP) technologies and capable of extracting information about protein functions and pathways from MEDLINE abstracts. This is the first completely automated system of its kind. MedScan is capable of extracting functional associations between proteins, small molecules, and pathways, recognizes types of regulatory mechanisms involved, as well effects of regulation and experimental conditions.
