Subject: Faculty Position, Health Informatics, The University of Iowa

The University of Iowa School of Library & Information Science ( http://www.uiowa.edu/~libsci/ ) and the College of Nursing are seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor for joint appointment. We are seeking candidates in the broad area of health informatics. As part of a university-wide informatics initiative, we are especially interested in applicants who either complement or strengthen existing interdisciplinary activities in this area. We are particularly interested in applicants who may have expertise in one or more of the following areas: data mining, knowledge discovery, visualization of complex data sets, interactive multimedia, or health information management.

Responsibilities include: a contribution to teaching in the areas of information science and nursing/health informatics; development of a strong program of fundable research in an area relevant to the informatics initiative; active collaboration with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary programs of educational and research in informatics.

Qualifications: Applicant must hold an earned doctorate in Information Science, Nursing, or a closely related field and demonstrate commitment to research and teaching; postdoctoral training is desirable, as is formal experience in the health sciences. Salary and rank will be based on qualifications and experience. The position is available immediately; the search will continue until the position is filled.
