Isobar Technology Group leads innovation, development, and provides hosting and support services for several marketing automation tools that give our internal clients within Isobar network a basis for their competitive service offerings.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill an open Scientist/Data Miner/Developer position. This candidate will be responsible for researching and developing new and extending or adapting existing optimization algorithms, for autonomous agent bidding in on-line auctions. This candidate will be involved with applying data mining techniques and analysis to large datasets. Experience applying and interpreting statistical inference methodologies, decision trees, and other traditional data mining techniques is a must. Experience with large databases, SQL Server or Oracle is a must. The candidate should be able to develop robust and mathematically well-defined solutions to high stakes business problems. The candidate will provide technical leadership in the areas of data analysis, data mining, and statistics and will present results at domestic and international conferences. The candidate will provide an on-going technology assessment of the use of data mining/statistical data analysis and process automation.

As a key member of Isobar Technology Team, the person in this position will provide instrumental statistical expertise in developing innovative software products in the marketing automation space.

Successful candidate must possess strong analytical skills, ability to solve problems in a cooperative team environment, demonstrate initiative and self-motivation, and utilize strong decision making and time management skills, and communicate well with other team members. As part of the ongoing product innovation, the individual will have an opportunity to influence product design.

Functions:

  • Research and develop statistical algorithms using MatLab or other statistical tool
  • Understand software design objectives and map business needs/requirements to technology infrastructure and software services/components
  • Understand integration points between MatLab applications and other system components developed in .NET and Java platforms, and facilitate such integration through use of solid software development principles, standards, and best coding practices
  • Provide technical support in designated area during client calls
  • Tune performance, troubleshoot and fix software defects
Position Requirements:
  • At least 5+ years of experience applying data mining techniques to real world data, developing statistical applications, and applying quantitative analysis in a business environment. At least 2 years of hands-on MatLab or other statistical package experience.
  • A solid understanding of software design principles. Knowledge of object-oriented design, UML, or other modeling methodologies is a plus
  • Experience in writing effective Use Cases and Requirement documentation
  • Ability to give level-of-effort estimates, set milestones and work within deadlines
  • Ability to drive to consensus among product stakeholders and team members
  • Ability to work independently while cooperating with the overall team
  • Ability to focus on priorities, and exhibit enthusiasm for creating high-quality software products
  • Can operate well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Quick learner able to take ownership over parts of software with little supervision
  • MS in Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline, with a concentration in data mining
  • Previous experience with search engine technologies and APIs is a strong plus
  • Experience in developing statistical applications in marketing automation space is a strong plus
Required Technical Skills:
  • Languages: MatLab, SQL, C# or Java. Knowledge of other programming language is a plus
  • Solid understanding of database design principles and best practices using Microsoft SQL Server 2000, or other database platform.
  • Understanding of either.NET or J2EE platform architectures is a plus
  • Familiarity with SOA, Web Services, and WSDL standard is a plus
