The Yahoo Search Marketing (YSM) Business Intelligence group in Burbank, CA is focused on exploiting data to optimize Yahoo's paid search business. This work offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high impact business with fast paced reporting and business intelligence needs.

We are looking for a Software Engineer with expertise in development and support for large scale reporting and analytic needs for an enterprise level business.

The position requires an ability to collect business requirements and a technical background in database development, reporting systems, business intelligence or data warehousing. It requires an energetic, experienced self-starter with a track record of quick learning, engineering excellence and customer service. The candidate should be passionate about creating high-quality, usable reports that will be successfully adopted to drive the use of data in corporate decisions across Yahoo!.

The Software Engineer will provide business groups like Sales, Marketing, and Finance with reports and analysis they need for planning and decision-making; work closely with those customers to understand key business drivers behind reporting requests. He or she will create and maintain SQL queries and packaged reporting solutions to support business intelligence across the company. The person filling this position would also be required to work closely in collaborative efforts with other technology and business groups.

Basic qualifications:

• Database knowledge and technical skills such as Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, Query performance tuning, Perl
• Ability to navigate complicated database relationships and understand how data can best be leveraged to meet customer needs
• Experience working with large transactional and reporting databases
• Passion for implementing reporting and analysis to drive effective business decision making
• Excellent communications skills (written and verbal - team oriented)
• Analytic mind & strong problem-solving capabilities

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area
• 5+ years experience working as a database developer, performing complex and extensive SQL database queries, and creating and maintaining scripts and tables for Oracle relational databases
• Service oriented experience in meeting operational and analytical needs of business groups
• Experience with reporting, ETL, OLAP and BI tools
