We are looking for a high-powered scientist/researcher with a background in one or more of machine learning, natural language processing, statistics and optimization to join our core research team as we take our technology platform to the next level. The ideal candidate has proven ability to conceive, plan, and lead projects from identifying the business need to solution implementation to providing metrics to measure the business impact. He or she is a smart, productive self-starter who is capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment, both independently and as part of a team.

The Senior Research Scientist is responsible for:

• Applying state-of-the-art methodologies to a broad range of online advertising applications
• Using sophisticated analytical techniques to automate existing processes and to enable new capabilities
• Building fully scalable prototypes to test new algorithms and formulas
• Supporting analysis efforts of cross-functional teams to address specific business issues.

1. Minimum 3 years of industry experience, ideally in a consumer internet or online advertising related setting
2. PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Econometrics, or related field
3. Strong background in one or more of the following:
   • Machine learning, e.g., feature discovery, formula optimization, text classification
   • Natural language processing, e.g., linguistics, text analysis, information retrieval
   • Statistical modeling techniques, e.g., logistic regression, decision trees, SVMs, neural networks
4. Knowledge of Java and/or C/C++
5. Strong communication and collaboration skills

1. Search engines and web-based information extraction techniques
2. Data mining, optimization, analysis of very large data sets
3. Scripting languages (Perl/Python)
4. Design and use of databases
